Niagara Symphony Orchestra
The Music Director & Principal Conductor, Bradley Thachuk and Director of Education, B.J. Armstrong joined our March meeting. Their presentation was very informative and interesting. They have a very comprehensive program for young people to learn to play an instrument as well as writing a piece for symphony. After they have written the music, professional members of the symphony join the kids and play their music! What a thrill. Not all symphony performances are heavy classical and occasionally there is one geared just to children. At the end of the evening, there was a draw for FOUR tickets to the Symphony!

Niagara Artists' Center
Our monthly meeting in April was more interesting than perhaps some thought it would be. The centre is a not-for-profit collective of working artists, and one of the oldest artist-run organizations in Canada. The artists who exhibit their work, really think "outside the box". The picture below is one of two huge displays showing the artist's interpretation of daily news. Steve Remus, "Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources", told us all about the centre. His title, by the way, is one he chose and he is not really with the government. These people really have a sense of humor!

Strawberry social and car rally.
We had great weather and great fun for the car rally. We went hither and yon, up hill and down dale and didn't lose a single member. The drive was about 90 minutes and we saw parts of the area we didn't even know existed. Well done Diane! Following the rally there was food, naturally.. There were several dishes other than deserts, but the desert table was the first to be attacked with vigor. This is our last general meeting of the season. We start again in September.
